Janice Elaine Heflin

Janice Elaine Heflin, 80, of Lindenhurst, IL passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, February 16, 2020. Janice held a deep love for her family and used her favorite activities to showcase that love. She had a great love of gardening with many flowers surrounding her home inside and out. Janice had a passion for genealogy. She also loved to bake and was constantly looking for and saving new recipes to try out, especially for church functions and holiday meals. She always had a smile and a twinkle in her eye for the many friends and family around her as well as for the people she met wherever she went. She was born February 14, 1940 at home in Farrington Township to James Chambliss and Ruth (Brookman) Chambliss Molenhour. She was a 1958 graduate of Webber Township High School and later earned her Nursing Assistant accreditation from Kaskaskia College in Centralia, IL in 1993. She married Jerry Heflin on December 24, 1969 at Donoho Prairie Christian Church in Texico, IL. After moving to Chicago’s northern suburbs for Jerry’s job, she began working as a CNA at The Village of Victory Lakes Retirement Community in 1993 and retired from there in 2005. Janice is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years Jerry Heflin of Lindenhurst, IL; daughters Joyce Heflin-Casado and her husband Michael of Lindenhurst, IL; Julie Heflin-Brooks and her husband Greg of Lindenhurst, IL; Jill Heflin of Lindenhurst, IL and her grandson Jacob Brooks of Lindenhurst, IL; cousins Joe Brookman and his wife Marilyn of Owensboro, KY; John Brookman and his wife Renee of Centralia, IL; and Judy (Schultz) Mason and her husband David of Texico, IL. She is preceded in death by her parents and step-father Isaac Molenhour of Iuka, IL. A Visitation for Mrs. Heflin will be held Friday, February 21, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, IL. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 22, 2020, at Donoho Praire Christian Church in Texico, IL. Interment will follow at Donoho Prairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Donoho Prairie Christian Church Building Fund, and will be accepted at the service, or by mail to the Osborn Funeral Home, P.O.
