September 16, 1954 - June 29, 2017
Bradley “Uncle Dudley” Steven Rollinson, 62 , of Salem, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017, of natural causes. He retired from the oil industry, where he worked in Texas and Oklahoma. Before beginning his career in the oil industry, he worked with his Dad, Floyd Rollinson, in the Railroad Salvage business located in Kell, Illinois. After retirement, he loved spending time on the lawn mower, even competing in lawn mower pulls. He enjoyed working in the yard, spending time down at his creek, playing and singing music, and woodworking. Recently, he built his own go cart and the family enjoyed a wonderful day together racing it. Uncle Dudley, as his nieces and nephew, have always called him, lost his vision in 2002. With the help of his faithful companion and Seeing Eye dog, EJ, Brad graduated from Kaskaskia College. After completing his Associates Degree, he and EJ moved to SIU – C, where, in 2010, he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism. Brad and his family were extremely proud of the accomplishments he made at SIU and following, as he was published with several articles throughout the local Carbondale and Salem area. Two Bible verse that Brad referred to were “For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7) and “And I will lead the blind in a way they do not know, in paths that they have not known I will guide them. I will turn the darkness before them into light, the rough places into level ground these are the things I will do, and I do not forsake them.” (Isaiah 42:16). A memorial service is planned for 1:00p.m., Friday, July 7, 2017, at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, with Lance Tate officiating. Friends and family are invited to attend visiting hours between 11:30 and the time of the service. Memorials can be made to Stan Rollinson to help the family with funeral expenses and can be received at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, Illinois, or the day of the services, at the church. A donation to MS research, in honor of Brad’s niece, DeAnna, will be made with a portion of the memorials received. Online condolences may be made at www.osbornfuneral.com, or on the Osborn Funeral Home's Facebook page. Brad is survived by his mother, Ruth Rollinson of Centralia, Illinois; brother, Stan Rollinson and wife Kay of Kell, Illinois. He was the proud uncle of three nieces and their families: DeAnna Clark and husband Jim of Dix, Illinois; niece Taunya Boxx and husband, Rick of Kell, Illinois; niece Christie Spencer of Salem, Illinois. He is also survived by great-niece, Lindsey Clark of Marion, Illinois; great-niece, Bethany Moghadam and husband Jordan of Kell, Illinois, great-nephew, Robert Boxx of Kell, Illinois, and great-niece, Jaeda Rollinson of Salem, Illinois; and a great-great-niece, Brilyn Moghadam of Kell, Illinois.
