March 9, 1950 - April 16, 2017
Tex Wesley Halfacre, 67, of Ina, passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at 3:15 a.m. on Resurrection Sunday, April 16, 2017, at Nature Trail Healthcare Center, in Mt. Vernon. He was born March 9, 1950, in Centralia, Illinois, the first son of Harold Wesley and Delma (Brown) Halfacre. He served in the United States Air Force from 1970 until 1973, and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon. He found great joy in serving others through organizations such as Angels on Assignment, and worked as a Caregiver for Addus Healthcare. Evergreen Director, Jeanne Haege, said clients looked forward to their day with Tex. "He truly lived his life for people in need." His joy was multiplied each Christmas, suiting up as Santa to bring cheer to the lonely and weary. The love of Jesus was extended through each gift and kind word. Becky Deaton, Parish Visitor, said he was "such a great witness to our God." She and Pastor Long have been a precious picture of Christ's body through the gift of their time and acts of love. He is survived by one brother, Louis Halfacre of Ina, who tenderly cared for him for the past few years; two sisters, Myrtle Allison and husband Deon of Iuka, and Joyce Girgenti and husband Ralph of Portage, Indiana; eight nieces; nine nephews; many cousins; Uncle Ralph Halfacre, Aunt Bonny Young, Aunt Mayola Vanderlann; Nancy Meyers and beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Wayne Halfacre; and two sisters, Bonnie Tate and Shirley Halfacre. In accordance with his wishes, Cremation Rites for Mr. Halfacre have been accorded, and his family will be hosting a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2017, at First United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon, with Pastor Long officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date. A Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of service, Sunday, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Louis Halfacre, to assist with funeral expenses, and will be accepted at the service, or by mail to the Osborn Funeral Home, P.O.
