Wanda Mae (Solomon) Riley, 90, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Thursday, September 22, 2016, at Lavender Ridge Dignified Memory Care, in Mt. Vernon. She was born September 11, 1926, in Bluford, Illinois, the daughter of Clarence Burton and Anna Augusta (Beard) Solomon. She grew up in Manitou Springs, Colorado, and returned to Centralia at the beginning of World War II, at the age of 15. On January 12, 1946, in Metropolis, Illinois, she married John C. Riley, and he preceded her in death on February 9, 2004. She attended Centralia High School, and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to Florida, and spending time with family and friends. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, and friend. She is survived by four children, Richard Riley and wife Norma of Dix, Dean Riley and wife Bernice of Dix, John Riley and wife Betty of Dix, and Diane Hall and husband Dean of Mt. Vernon; eleven grandchildren, Kevin Riley and wife Tina of Dix, Jason Riley and wife Carrie of Daytona, Florida, Joe Riley of Dix, Kenny Riley and wife Adria of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Kerry Riley and wife Lea of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Kathy Garrison of Hartford City, Indiana, Angela Rowland and husband David of Rapid City, South Dakota, Stacie Dickhut of Kansas City, Missouri, Deena Withrow and husband Todd of Bluford, Melissa O'Bryan and husband Billy of Salem, and Jenifer Hefner and husband Ryan of Kell; thirty-five great grandchildren; twelve great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Imogene Arnold and husband Gene of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Amy Sparks and husband Steve of Vandalia, Illinois; two brothers-in-law, Harry Riley of Effingham, and Bill and June Riley of Dix; and one sister-in-law, Mary Ann Beal and husband Wayne of Dix. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one grandson, John C. Riley, IV; one great grandson, Travis Riley; two brothers, Bill Solomon and Ronnie Solomon; and three sisters, Anna Lee Hart, Nellie Thouvenin, and Emma Lusch. Funeral services for Mrs. Riley will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 25, 2016, at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, with Marty Mills officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 24, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Cemetery or an organization of the donor's choice, and will be accepted at the service, or by mail to the Osborn Funeral Home, P.O.
